New marble reliefs with vegetal motifs from the Temple of Divus Augustus at Tarraco

Julio C. Ruiz

This article presents three unpublished reliefs, all housed in the Diocesan Museum of Tarragona. Due to their find spot and their characteristics they possibly served as decors of different buildings and spaces of the Temple of Divus Augustus in the Acropolis of Tarraco. The three reliefs share vegetal decors and petrography (LuniCarrara marble). Despite their state of conservation, at least two of the fragments shed light on the Temple’s ornamental scheme. The poor preservation of the third does not allow associating it directly to the Temple. It could in fact have belonged to another structure.
